Same thing happened to me. Username Dollabillz, lost all data and restarted me at tutorial. Won’t be playing again unless they reload my progress, really unacceptable if the games not ready don’t release it.

Hey everyone, what likely happened when your account appeared to reset is that you lost your connection to Apple's Game Center. The Garbage Pail Kids game uses Game Center to verify your login, so if Game Center doesn't connect when the game starts, we restart you with a new account that isn't associated with your Game Center account.

I recommend going to the Game Center screen in the Settings app and making sure you're logged in there. Force-quit the Garbage Pail Kids game and then open it again, and your original account should be restored.

Make sure your internet connection is strong before doing the above steps; If you're on cellular data and occasionally lose connectivity, that can cause a loss of the Game Center connection.

I purchased a new phone, Game Center was on and I started the app but had to go through tutorial before I was able to access anything settings wise. Now the new game is my default on Game Center, attaches to my Apple accent. (I did not have Game Center on the old phone) thought restore purchases would allow me to manually enter the player id, however that button doesn’t seem to be active. Unfortunately when I try to see the data it saves the game is not listed in the Game Center app storage/data. Maybe I missed something?

Hi Larz, restoring purchases is not the same as restoring your account. Unfortunately, if you never had the game associated with your Game Center account, you won't be able to easily access your game account from your new phone. If you had logged into your Game Center account on your old phone and THEN on your new phone, it would have been able to access your old account, but what you did by logging onto Game Center on your new phone first was to create a new GPK account and then associate it with your Game Center id.

There's not much we can do in a case like this. If you're not particularly attached to your Apple ID, you can log out of your Apple ID on both phones, make a new one on your old phone along with a Game Center account, then play GPK on your old phone with Game Center turned on. That will associate that newly created Game Center account with your old GPK account, and then you can log into that new Apple ID / Game Center account on your new phone to bring it over.

The fact that Apple made the Game Center and Apple ID accounts the same in a recent update is making this a lot, a LOT harder than it would have been before :(

I tried that as well. I created a new apple id to login to game center before i had to wipe the old phone. When i opened the game, my data was still intact, i logged into game center using the new apple id on the old phone, reopened the game, but it started from scratch as well. Unfortunately the old phone is now gone, i only have my user id as reference.

Just to be clear, you created a brand new Apple ID on your old phone, logged into game center with it, having never logged into any GPK account with it before, ever, and when you opened GPK with that new GC account it started you at the beginning anyway?

How far into the game were you?

That is correct, I had Game Center turned off, never used it. When I set up the new phone, I figured my backed up data would carry over (backed up on itunes). I setup the new phone, opened GPK and thats when I realized the data didn't carry over, and it said to use game center, so I logged in using the appleid I use for my account on the new phone. It Started from beginning.  So I created a new ID, logged in on the old phone using that ID, opened the game, and it started from scratch. When I did not connect to game center my progress was still intact.

Level wise I was @70 (maxed, red bar stayed full when i ran battles)

I can look in itunes and see my history of purchases, and I only retained my user id. But despite searches on apple to find game center data, that provided no solution.

That's strange that you weren't able to connect the old account with a brand new Game Center id. I'm not sure why that would have happened.

And yes, Apple does not provide a way to directly access or copy internal save data for a specific app from one phone to another. As far as I know, this functionality is available for apps that implement it specifically for saving files that you might want to share, like with GarageBand or Pages or Keynote, but not for internal app data associated with accounts. I assume that this is partially for privacy/data tracking reasons.

Anyway, if you don't have access to your old phone, this gets a bit more difficult for us. I'm not sure if we can manually swap data between player ids. Please contact customer support about this so we can try to handle it privately.
