Hi GPK Gang,
We've seen the threads about the game being "dead," speculations over the team's dedication, and frustrations over the lack of new content. I'd like to share some specifics about the state of the game and how we are planning to move forward.
We've mentioned many times that we are a small team. Indeed, we have a world-class license with Garbage Pail Kids, but we are still an independent studio with a very small team of people working for the love of the project and the Garbage Pail Kids legacy; we are collectors and fans ourselves. Since launching, we have had to run a scaled-back team and have only been able to address the most crucial game-breaking issues. We want to do more.
We want to bring you more characters, more game play modes, and to launch on Android. We want to uncover the "coming soon" statue. We want to make the game more social. We want to fix everything that comes up. With a full development team, we'd be pushing game updates every couple weeks and running live events regularly. We simply have not had the resources to do that.
We have some good news, however. We are in conversations to onboard additional artists and engineers in October. We have several new characters approved for development, and a new gameplay mode that we are testing internally. Realistically this would mean new content arrives no sooner than November.
We understand that many late-stage players have nothing left to do, and that waiting until November for something new is not motivating; the best we can do at the moment is provide some giveaways and keep you updated on our progress.
We will likely have an influx of new players in late September, from promotions around the new GPK card packs releasing in stores. We are hopeful this will bring new fans to the arena and further invigorate the leaderboards.
You all are experts in this game now, you know it inside and out, know its bugs and exploits, know how to make the most of what we've built. And you certainly know how to tell us when we’ve screwed up. We’re good with that, and are so grateful for the energy you have put into the game. We know many of you are now facing a slump that may make you want to quit and not come back. We hope that when we are able to release new content later this year, you'll rediscover the spark again. As I always say, the trash heap is better because you’re in it with us.
