GPK December 2021 Update 2 - Snapped Santa and Tinsel Tina!
Halloween is history. Thanksgiving is a pile of dried-out leftovers. But the latest update of GPK: The Game it’s here, and it’s beginning to look a lot like CHAOS! Who needs eight crummy reindeer when you can have FIVE new holiday-themed GPKs? Manny Orah is just waiting to be chosen, Kris Krampus has made his move from Alpine to online and Bruised Bruce is ABSOLUTELY a Christmas card - we’re prepared to Die Hard on that hill.
But wait, there’s more: Snapped Santa and Tinsel Tina are comin’ to town! They may look a little familiar, but they’re full of heave-worthy holiday cheer and available ONLY in GPK: The Game.
The forecast also calls for a wintry mix of special events, and we left you a brand new character designation under the tree: Festive!
No matter what you celebrate when the temperature drops, we hope you’ll take a minute to remember the things that bring us all together – our abiding love for crude drawings, groan-worthy puns and of course: toilet humor. Crappy Holidays, gang!
Besides updates already included in our first December release a few weeks ago, the following changes have also been made:
Character token changes:
-
Added Tinsel Tina and Snapped Santa to the Bazaar
-
Nuts Hard 5-4: Mona Loser has been replaced with Tinsel Tina
-
Dolts Hard 7-3: Acme Amy has been replaced with Snapped Santa
Other changes:
-
Fixed a major issue where players could sometimes navigate within the game BEFORE all additional assets were downloaded. (This would cause the infamous "Black Box" error.)
-
We believe we have permanently fixed the infamous "Yellow Card Error" in Worm Wars, where progress was saved incorrectly so that all enemies were defeated but the battle wasn't recorded as a victory. Please let us know if you see this again after the update.
-
Fixed a bug where ads could start before all battle animations were completed
-
For character bundles with guaranteed outcomes, the "POSSIBLE ITEMS" text in the pack detail screen will now say "GUARANTEED ITEMS"
-
Fixed an issue where Pink Lemon Nadine's Aftertaste ability would appear to do no DOT damage. This was a visual bug only - the damage was actually happening behind the scenes!
-
Yeah, I’m not a fan redressed characters like Pink Lemon Nadine, Christmas Carol & Manny Orah. I would rather have unique characters instead. Instead of Christmas Carol, you could’ve used Yul Tied, instead of Manny Orah, you could’ve used Clay Dreidel, instead of Pink Lemon Nadine, you could’ve used any other from the food fight set (my pick would’ve been Food Fight Felix). Now we have two more samey cards. Damn! Chris Mess is a big missed opportunity. I actually thought that’s who was coming when you didn’t use Crater Chris instead of Corroded Carl. We did get a Chris in Kris Krampus which is a cool card at least. That’s a nice pick along with Bruised Bruce.

The advantage of alternative costumes in games is less assets to build. So less design time. I know WWE Mayhem and Marvel Strike Force usually release 2-3 New and 2-3 Varients a month. If GPK started doing this, it could only help our rosters. They maybe copy cats, but with new tags it might help some of us advance in Events.
-
Nah, I’d rather unique characters. I don’t care about when they release them as long as they release them, but unique ones. I mean there are over 1,000 characters in total. To start duplicating when you have an enormous amount of unique possibilities is lazy and boring. I really hope they don’t copy those games and be more original if possible.

New stuff is new stuff. I remember a time when we got nothing and liked it. And we had to walk uphill both ways in a snowstorm to get certain pieces of junk. At least this isn't Galaxy of Heroes where you get Han Solo and Stormtrooper Han Solo. And Captain Han Solo. And Young Han Solo. And Veteran Smuggler Han Solo.

I have no idea what GoH is. I only play this and a couple word games. That’s it. I’m only hooked on this because it’s GPK. I don’t care what other games do. It’s better to be different to stand out, than to be the same and be lost in the crowd. I’m not much for phone games, but I like this one and want it to improve. That’s all.

Tony Luzzi I'm the only person on the team who also worked on Galaxy of Heroes, and I joined GPK a few months before it was released so it was basically done already.
Testy Tony while there are a LOT of GPK cards to choose from, not all of them really work for the purposes of the game. We have to narrow it down by whether or not we can really animate it in an interesting way, if it's going to be funny or entertaining when we do, if it fits with any particular theme we can match other stuff with... lots of factors.

I know not all off them fit the game, but there are many that do and would still be funny and could be included in the game. Recycled characters are just lazy though. It’s my opinion which shouldn’t matter to anyone, but I do like to say my piece. I still like the game, I just would wish for better character selection.
