Alas, the time has come for me to move on from GPK: The Game (and, by extension, these forums).
I've actually been working on this game since the summer of 2018, when I started as a producer. Once we started frequent updates of the game in conjunction with Reliance Games at the end of 2020, I picked up responsibility for just about all of the game design work with the goal of handing it off to Reliance at some point. And now, that time has come.
A bit off topic but I would also like to mention and thank Monica Fan, who we hired as a junior designer to work with me on the Jago side of things on a part-time basis. Since there's no Credits screen in the game and Monica never posted in the forums, I thought this would be a good occasion to give her some credit for helping to pick characters, assemble the content schedule, and design character abilities for about a year starting in July of 2021. Monica has since moved on to a great full-time industry job, and we wish her the best!
My time working on GPK has been a lot of fun. It was great working with Topps and being able to pick characters, put themes together, and figure out what the animations were going to look like. Telling a story through mechanics is one of the things that makes video games truly special, and I tried to do that with the "new" (2020 and later) characters as much as possible.
I have also enjoyed interacting with the folks here on the forums. It's a small but very passionate group, many of whom know a lot more about the Garbage Pail Kids than I ever will. I'm always impressed by your passion for GPK in general and for the game in particular.
Primary game design responsibility is now in the capable hands at Reliance, led by Brijesh, who will also be taking over moderation duties on the forums. Please give him a nice welcome!
I'll stick around to answer questions here for a few days, and then I'll be unsubscribing from post notifications for good.
